Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

LEAVING BRANSON for NORTH LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS

Checking out the hills of Branson one last time!!
We went to Woodland Hills Church in Branson on Sunday, August 9th. It was the closest to our home park.  It was a contemporary service, so a little loud for us. But the sermon was very good.  So we were okay without our usual adult Bible study.  From there we went to the Fish House near Bass Pro Shop for lunch on the river.

After lunch we drove up to Lookout Point to take a few pictures.  The sun was against us though for good clear pictures..

Returning to the Treasure Lake RV Resort, I took a few more pictures for memories and then did a load of laundry before bringing in the slides for morning.  Two views out our door.

Had to get a picture of our neighbor's Mustang.
It is for sale and would have liked it, but not without a/c.

Remember the turkey in the last Blog?
I did not realize that there were signs for them!!

We arrived at Riverside RV Park in North Little Rock, Arkansas on Monday, August 10th.  Gary decided to postpone the motorhome check-up until we get to Pensacola, Florida later in the month. So we were able to make an early start for the drive.  Was a good think as our a/c fan cut out on us before we reached our destination.
These next two pictures are our view from the front window at our new park!!  We do like this setting, just wish it was cooler in order to leave the drapes open all day.
Little Rock across the river.

Clinton walk-bridge on the left and a river barge.

It is hot here in Arkansas even though we are right along the river!!  Heat index in the triple digits at times.  We will be doing some visiting and running around with my great nephew, Andrew, and his family when they are not busy with work or school shopping.  Last evening we met up with them at the church where he is Director of Youth Ministry, for an ice cream social.  The youth had been away for a week, so they were thanking the adults of the church who supported their trip.
Gary talking with Andrew, who is looking very good!!

Cole, Olivia and mom, Kelli.
Don't know the name of the girl in back.
Grandma's, Tina and Pearl, they were all properly hugged!!!  We will enjoy them for you!!!We hope to do some sight seeing or playing around with the kids this week before moving on. So stay tuned.
