Ready to Roll

Our History

Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

A WEEK CLOSE TO HOME, BUSHNELL FL

After our boat tour and dinner out, the coming week looked rather quiet.
On Saturday, the 15th, there was a Wood Craft Show here in the park, with chain saw art that you see below,

and many hand carved items inside the building.  The work is always awesome!!

The next morning we began with Sunday School followed by worship service at First Baptist of Bushnell.  After dinner at the Mexican restaurant in front of the Park, we sat about waiting for our friends from Ohio to arrive. While waiting we had a new neighbor over for a visit.
He is Jack from Wadsworth Ohio.  He travels with a small trailer for his bed, and belongings, as well as the motorcycle.  He had spent the winter bouncing around Florida meeting up with friends.  Nice guy and he is enjoying the trip immensely.

After that the park had their St. Patrick's parade.  So I got my lawn chair out along with the neighbors.

After the parade, I was admiring the neighbor's flowers across the street.  She and her husband live here year around.  Her plants are awesome and her two little dogs are so well behaved that you hardly know that they are there.

Our friends, Esther and Bill, decided to stop on the way north to see a few friends on their way.  They are taking the trip slow since weather is still cold up there, much of the time.  Since they had not had anything to eat since breakfast, we went back out to the Mexican restaurant for their dinner.

We had planned to go to the Webster Flea Market on Monday, and they had been looking forward to it.  But we awoke to a very overcast sky and promise of rain by 10:30am . . . And they weren't far off!!  So we went to Howie's for breakfast and then went to a smaller Flea Market at Bevilles Corners where I found my garden flags for just $2 a piece.  So I was a happy camper.  Once it started to rain we drove in to Tampa to the Hard Rock Casino for a few hours and then drove to Panasofkee to Mo's Restaurant for dinner.  Sounds like all we did was eat??

Since Bill left his jacket at Mo's, we went back there the next morning for breakfast.  Then he and Gary took off for Ocala and parts unknown.  The went through the Don Garlits Museum(to be in a later Blog) and checked out some Elks clubs, since Esther collects Elks pins.  Bill did not find any pins, but he did get a Beer Tap for her collection.

In the evenings, Esther and I spent our extra time playing 5-Crowns while the guys watched TV because of the rain.  Tuesday was my usual scrapbooking day with friends here in the park.  So I introduced Esther to the craft, though it was not totally new to her as someone in her family does it also.  During the afternoon of work and lady fellowship, she got eight pages done.  So she got a start on recording her travels and visits of family and friends who found them here in Florida.

We got home in time to get spaghetti dinner ready before the guys returned.  After a long day, they decided that they would not bother with breakfast on Wednesday so that they could get an early start down the road.  We have not heard from them, but we have to assume that no news is good news.

Gary, Audrey, Jean and Jim
On Wednesday, we had plans to meet up with a high school friend from Audrey's graduating class.  Jean and her husband, Jim, met us at Bob Evans in Ocala.  It was amazing how we fell right in to catching up on life!!  We only began to touch the tip of that iceberg.  So we will need to meet up again.  We are not sure if we will find the time this next week, or if we will have to put it off until our next stay in Florida.  They have lived in Florida since his days in the Army in Homestead, Florida in the '60's.  But they do not live too far from our Park here along I-75.  Imagine the catching up!!  She was surprised that many of the people that she new here early on, in their church, were cousins of mine.  It is a small world, eh?

We stopped at JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby so that I could spend some money!!  I can always find new things to make to keep me busy.  Back home for the evening and not sure what we would do the next day, but good to relax.

The next day I managed to catch up on re-sizing photos and to do another Blog.  I only had this one left to do after that Thursday.  Gary went up on the roof to do a little repair as we had noticed a leak again around the ceiling fan.  It seems there is always something to do to keep everything in shape!!  It seems worse than a house!!  But not complaining!!

Another week gone and I need to get laundry done again.  Will probably do that tomorrow.
Take care and God Bless.

My husband and I always stayed at the Red Barn and my cousin Phil at the Oaks on the first road heading north. He had a 5th wheel that he made permanent. He no longer goes there and sold the 5er.

We introduced ourselves to your cousin when you first told us, and miss seeing he and Ann this year.
