Ready to Roll

Our History

Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

FALL INTO WINTER IN OHIO. UGH!!

Going to Salem First Friends church, driving from Youngstown - - what an awesome sight!!  But the rain was not in our area yet.

I was so glad to at least have my phone to snap these pictures!!  I often forget to carry the good camera with me, though trying to mend my ways.
Our life has been quite tranquil, just dining out with friends and family occasionally.  Went to dinner after church at Salem Skyline Restaurant with Bill and Karen McElwee.  Great dinner and even better fellowship!!
Gary has been spending much of his daytime hours patching and painting Victor's living room.  It is coming along pretty well and he is now waiting for the paint.  But must decide on colors first.  Anything except orange (what they covered) or the army green camo that was in the hall.  The priming is done except for the inside of closet.  Victor and Gary spent a very productive Saturday on it.  And I even got in on the priming to cover RED woodwork that was there when he bought the house.  Just had to get it covered even though he is not ready to do the dining and kitchen area.  That kept me busy for a day.  Just trying to make the time go faster, - - moving toward Florida time!!

My surgery is scheduled for November 6th and we are hoping to leave here just four weeks after that, if the doctor is in agreement.  Until then I need to get some baking done.  I am sure that the boys will be happy if I leave cookies behind!!

Big boys and little toys!!

Today was the last doctor appointment in Cleveland before the surgery.  It started out with beautiful colors.  But as the sky darkened, so did the weather!!

Br-r-r-r!!  It was quite chilly when we got out of the car.  What a change in an hour and fifty miles!!

And heavier snow and larger snow flakes, the farther north we drove!!  Scenery on Chagrin Blvd - -

Driving along I-90 after leaving the doctor was a treat!!  Gary had a bad headache, so the driving fell to me.  We stopped at my brothers to take care of some business, but we quickly headed back home going back to I-271 rather than south through Chardon (the snow belt).  We don't know if they got any, but we were not taking chances.  There was quite a bit of ice on I-90 when I first crossed it.  But the Liquid Ice Melt trucks were out taking care of it.

We sure will be glad to move on out of this territory soon.  Hopefully, this was just a teaser!!
Today was our 49th anniversary, but just took it easy after returning home.  We spent two days away, Tuesday and Wednesday.  That was good!!  We also try to help our son and daughter-in-law by transporting our grandson here and there.  Not enough quality time there, but they have so little free time.  We are looking forward to Thanksgiving together!!

We also have dinners and visits planned over the next two weeks that will keep us busy, as well.  We will keep you up on that.  Take care and God Bless.
