Our History

Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

GAME NIGHT WITH OUR GRANDSON

We are gearing down in preparation for our move on south.  But there are still so many things that we want to do, will we make it?  There is so much here at the park that they want us to be doing, but it is way beyond what I consider proper comp for the site that we live on (without sewer and water direct).  So we do feel that we have put in more than we should, but of course it is way less than what others are doing.  They just do not understand that when we are in the area, it is not just to put in time for the park but for the visiting and catching up with people who we have not seen for a year or two.  So needless to say we are planning on paying for our site next year and have freedom.  Hopefully the money that we save on the gas running from Ravenna several times a week, will pay for the rent and electric.  We keep looking for a lot closer to the boys.
We went to the last school home football game where our grandson plays in the band.  It was fun being there, but we cut out after the band played for halftime   It is a very large band and they do very well!  I would have liked to see him play in his uniform, but since it was homecoming it was in cowboy motif.  And Grandma proudly wore his picture in uniform button!!  Lynn spent the time with us at the game and we ran into a friend from Salem who was there for her granddaughter in the band also.  We look forward to next football season.

And then the rain began.
And let the warm-up begin!!  And wouldn't you know that my battery and Lynn's as well, ran down.  so not too many pictures!!

Many other stops for those last two weeks, but we are on the road again.  Our next Blog will be about Washington DC, our first sight seeing stop.

I promised that I would show you some better pictures of the floor in the motorhome that Gary installed when I was in Florida in July.  So here they are.  I had been cleaning to pack up and hit the road.

Gary is doing what Gary likes best!

And looking from the other direction.  My desk is great, but it catches everything!
