Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

SALEM CLASS of '62

After our journey back to Ohio, Audrey attended her weekend long celebration of her 50th year Class Reunion.  We made it in good time and thus enjoyed three of the planned events and renewing of many high school relationships.  This picture was taken right after the Alumni Banquet where we had good representation and learned of our $23,000 total bequest by class members to comemmorate our 50 year celebration.  It was very interesting and inspiring to witness the awards given for scholarships as well as to learn of a new scholarship to be formed in memory of Mrs. Hickey of Hickey Metal Fabrication in Salem.  This is the second such scholarship formed by their family and it is wonderful to see such scholarships especially for the vocational students and now for the healthcare students as well.

It sure was a full house, held in the high school cafeteria.

Next are some pictures taken of Class of '62 attendees and their spouses.

The night before the Alumni Banquet we attended the Class get together at Santo and Chris Sicilia's farm.  It was a wonderful time of visiting with wonderful weather and food!!  Thanks to Santo and Chris.  It was wonderful not to have to compete with music and other goings on about us.

I was first greeted by long time friend Gretchen Whitman and her husband.  We had fun catching up on times since our last visit which was probably ten years ago.  We'll have to make it happen more often!!

The last event that we attended was the brunch at Salem Hills Restaurant in Salem on Sunday morning. We left there to return to West Branch State Park campground, our home for the next five months, to spend the rest of the day as Camper Hosts, our duties for the next five months.

We left the friends looking forward to our next time together in five years, although there is talk of more times together in between.

Have a wonderful summer!!
