Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

MESA REGAL ARTISAN SHOW

Mesa Regal RV Resort where we live this winter is like a city within a city! Except for the lack of a grocery store, we would be able to live here the whole season without leaving. They have beauty and barber shops, laundromats, and bar & grill. In addition there are two swimming pools & sauna, a library, a travel agency, boccie ball, a pool hall, shuffle board, tennis, a fitness room, two ballrooms with stages, game rooms, a workshop where the Automotive Club is restoring a 1954 Jaguar, a wood shop, a church service with a choir, Bible study groups, concerts, dances, and a computer club. Think that is all?? Not!! Today they had an Artisan Show to display the work of more activity groups here, including the Pencil Art Class that Gary teaches once a week. He has fourteen in his class from beginners to artists who work in other medians including painting on china and ceramics. The fourteen in his class have shown an interest in taking his class again next year as well as twenty new people who signed up today! So he is requesting time and location for two classes next year instead of just one as he had this year. This is the hall where all of the displays were located today except for the quilting group. The quilters had to use the smaller hall just for that group!! The quilts were amazing!! And of course since I was so late checking out that hall, I forgot to take pictures!! They were gorgeous and I am so sorry to have missed those pictures!! They have one male in the group and his quilt was my favorite! They also do about 300 children's quilts for children in this area with needs. The Activity Department also sold a taco bag lunch with pie for the public. And following the show, they had a raffle of donated items.
Enjoy the art work!

I can see two or three different groups that I would also like to get involved in during our next stay. But I honestly do not believe that I would have enough time with working two days also. But we'll see!!
Amazing what they packed into our park activities, right?? No spare time in retirement!!
I should have set outside today to soak up the beautiful weather, but by time I went to the grocery, fixed food for our neighborhood pot-luck tomorrow and re sized all of my photos, I was out of day light time!!
Take care and enjoy your weekend!!
