Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA

One p.m. and we are on the road again through the desert and mountains, bound for Downtown Las Vegas! The laugh is on them! They will be disappointed in us as we come with pennies in our pockets, out for a little sight seeing and fun!
We go from the open country where our tour guide points out the Joshua Tree and other cacti. I never knew that there are so many varieties of cacti. We need to go to a botanical garden somewhere to check out all of the plants from the southwest, if we do not run out of time before we leave this area.
Ah-h-h, Las Vegas in view!
Our guide points out the Strip and the Stratosphere Las Vegas Needle, a tower, hotel and casino, visible because of it's 160 feet in height.
We are dropped off a block from Fremont Street and will be picked up again at 6:15 after the light show.

After the Strip was built and grew in magnitude and interest, the downtown area began to loose it's tourist attraction. To build the business for downtown the city closed off Fremont Street to traffic and turned it into the simulation of a Mall. The canopy was added and the now famous Fremont Street Experience Light Show completes the mall.
Our first stop was the Golden Nugget where we found our usual penny machine!
While there we looked for the World's largest gold nugget which was on display. Sorry to say we forgot to look for their shark aquarium!!
As we wandered on to the end of Fremont Street, we had to take the picture of the Plaza Hotel on the next street. It is a wonderful view from under the mall canopy!
Not sure which casino that this was in, but we had to stop for the well advertised shrimp cocktail for $1.99. Yum-m. We were told that it was not too long ago that it was only 99 cents! Our next stop and our last casino stop. We each put in our dollar and played, and played, and played while watching the people traffic in the mall in front of our casino and the Golden Nugget across from us.
My dollar lasted for an hour and forty-five minutes and I still had the original dollar left! But time to go. The lights had come on and it was getting dark, we are now ready and waiting for the light show.
But before the show we watched the people riding the cable over head, landing on the deck.
I think that I would have enjoyed this ride, but not the money that it cost. Cheap, you say? Yes, yes!!
Let the light show begin!! It was amazing and Gary did take video of it as well as still photos.
But after the couple from our resort park who also went on this trip sent us the video that Jim edited in his photo computer program, we decided to share it with you instead of our videos. His is so well done!! He had to change the music for YouTube to accept this for show. It really is much better with his music!! Theirs had such a brassy sound.
So click on this link and watch his video and enjoy!
Cathy and Jim, I hope you enjoyed the trip as much as we did. We will be in touch to get better acquainted. Take care.
And all of you friends and family out there, stay warm and healthy!! Our next trip is the Grand Canyon if the weather permits. We do not want the extreme cold to make it uncomfortable, or clouds to obscure our view!
