Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

BONFIRES, FOOD & FELLOWSHIP In OHIO

The weekend began following an overnight stay in the hospital for Audrey to regain full lung function following a biopsy. My sister arrived during my hospital stay and the weekend continued from there. After church a friend of ours, Marsha, came to visit while my sister was here. We had a great visit catching up on current status of families as well as old times!
Marsha, we were so glad that you had time to stop out at the campground for a visit!!
See how fast I bounced back!! My sister and I got busy to prepare food for Monday. Yes, a motor home kitchen is big enough for two cooks!
We went on into Labor Day with a family picnic, although not all family came. Some had to work and some had other relatives to visit. Fortunate for us we still had great food and a great visit together. My sister and I were even playing camera war with our new cameras! What fun!!
During the week following Labor Day, Gary received a couple pictures from a friend in Bushnell, FL announcing the birth of their grand daughter and the birth of this Rat Rod!!
What a beauty! The grand daughter that is!! Congratulations Lee and Karen!!
On Wednesday Gary picked up the desk top that he had made in Youngstown and came back to put my desk together. This is a beauty also! I am so pleased with it and will get many, many hours of use here doing scrap booking!!
Now I soon need to get the scrap booking materials stored away properly. It gave me the time to sort out some stuff that I never use for our Trash and Treasure night Scrapbooking at church. I also found stuff that I should have been using all along, but did not know where it was! I guess it pays to clean out once in a while!
All finished in time for our Sunday School Agape Class picnic! We had thirty-one of us together including seven friends from other classes. What a variety of food!! See Bill, I told you we did not need to worry about what was coming!! I do not think that we had any duplicates, and almost all of it cleared out by evening's end!! Oh, so-o-o delicious!!
Just some pictures of the evening:
And the stories went on, an on! What fun!!
Then today, it was back to work as usual! Two of our sons came down to help Gary remove a window and re-install it. It needed the space behind the top closed some. Caulk just works so long and then the real problem needs fixed.
Believe it or not, the fix took place without a hitch!!! Miracle of miracles!!
Another week is behind us and we are looking forward to moving on west, providing my medical tests prove negative. So we keep on praying and prodding the doctors to schedule asap!! Check back with us and hopefully we will have all of those results soon.
