We arrived at Red Barn RV Resort at Bushnell, Florida on Monday. As we were driving in through the campground, we were driving along in view of the traffic on I 75. Though we can not see this traffic from our site,we have often had interstate traffic close to our campground. We are getting accustomed to the sounds of it and sleeping is easier. Most of the residents here are retired people, some living here year around and some just seasonal. There are also over nighters. The housing ranges from mobile homes of the 60's, trailers, fifth wheels, motorhomes to park models and double wides. Many have storage sheds and Florida rooms added on. It is very nice.
We have seen a few of these birds around the grounds also. I have not decided what they are though. If anyone knows, you can let me know through the Shout Mix Box on my Blog.
On Wednesday following our arrival here, we received a phone call from friends traveling from Salem, Ohio to Ft. Myers, Florida. They were nearing our location and so they stopped for a visit with us that evening. We met with Bill and Esther again in the morning and took them for breakfast at the Hideaway here in the campground. The Hideaway is a house that was on the land before the campground sites were put in, that has since been turned into a restaurant just for the grounds. It is very nice and very good breakfasts! We had a very pleasant visit and it was great to have someone here from up home. We will see them again when the ELKS down at Bonita Springs has their Salem, Ohio day in February. We are anxious to attend that and wonder who all we will see!
I am sure they were glad to leave the snow behind! This is a picture that our son in Ohio sent to us to let us know what we are missing. They have had a few more snow falls since. But we don't miss it a bit! In fact, we wish we had warmer weather here! This 20 degrees is unusually cold for this area also! Br-r-r.
In driving around the little town of Bushnell, we ran across this house for sale. Thought you might appreciate the structure. I would also like to see the interior layout but I don't imagine I will have the opportunity. There is not much here except (at least) five large campgrounds. It surprised us that a lot of this area in Florida is also farming community.
Friday we went down southwest of here to Brooksville to see some art work on display throughout their City Hall. There was some outstanding work there. These are two watercolors done by a lady named Karen. I am sorry but I do not remember her last name. If we get down there again, I will get the name and a picture of one or two more of her pieces. They are so outstanding because of the bold coloring. I think that is unusual for water color. I loved them!
Then we walked the streets to view the murals painted on some of the buildings throughout town. These next three are all of one mural and would have looked nicer if they had not had cars parked in front of them. We really should have them pieced together as one picture. On our walk we also went through a very nice large Antique Shop. It turned out to be a fun day even though I did not get to hit the regular stores to shop! Maybe next time!
Tonight we went to a movie, which was well attended, at Tortoise Rec Hall here in the campground. It was a humorous but also sad movie called "Bucket List". I would recommend it even though there is some off color language in it. We enjoyed it and met another couple from the campground who are from Kentucky and just wintering here. He is a fishing enthusiast. Today we also went to a Festival northeast of here, but I will do a separate Blog of it as it would make too many pictures here. So check in again!
