Ready to Roll
Our History

- Ohio, United States
- Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

On The Road
Our weekend in western Ohio at the Samboree was very rainy and ver-r-ry muddy when pulling out. We were one of the lucky ones who did not get stuck. Maybe because we sat and watched others, learning what not to do!
We finally left the apartment and hit the road on May 31, 2008 after spending the last month moving, spending time with our children, our grandson, step-granddaughter, siblings, and friends. It might be a sad time for them but we are looking forward to adventure!
Our first day was 7 hours on the road at 58 mph to try to conserve gas. With Rt 86 in NY being very rough and bucking winds most of the day, I'm not sure we were successful at conserving. We stopped in a Wal-mart for the night and went the last hour and a half the next morning to arrive at Yellow Lantern CG at Cortland, NY and have plenty of time to rearrange and put away the last of things moved from our apartment. Gary started the settling in by slipping on their wet wooden steps. Not pleasant, but keeps moving to keep from getting stiff.
The next day was spent with Gary changing out cabinet door latches and fixing a drawer while I may have finally figured how to be ready to have the blog on view. I just need to import a photo successfully and I will be happy.
We are planning to venture out to points of interest tomorrow as rain is forecast for Wednesday.
