Summer Winding Down in OHIO!

I can not seem to be able to drag the photos as usual!! Don't know why not, but will label them and leave them as they are! This is the Independent Living Place where we moved my brother to this past weekend. So he is set, hopefully permanently. It s lovely and many things to do! Someday I hope we can retire to this. No fuss, no worry. Most everything is done for you! These are deer that we saw in our friend, Ms. Beck's, neighbor's yard. Oh, and you see all four? Yes, there were four!! And Grandpa and his friends Rick and Tom took our grandson to the Cleveland Zoo. Rick wanted to do some photography shoots. Do these measure up,Rick?

And friends come to visit. There were others, but as I say we sometimes forgot to take pictures and will have to wait for another visit. But the visits were enjoyed immensely. I believe that this past month has been the worst for not remembering to take the camera everywhere we go. We have been so many places and have been out to eat with so many relatives and friends and almost no photos to show for it. It has been wonderful and we've had so much fellowship that you will just have to take my word for it.

We have had our grandson with us a lot at the motorhome and he has even had to tag along when we went out with friends. He sure did get his use of his summer pass here at Timashamie for swimming. One week he forgot to bring his bike back out with him. You would have thought that Grandpa gave him a new one when he saw it in the yard here after Grandpa had gone to get it without him knowing. He has also tried to teach us his adventure games, but Grandpa and I are not buying into them. He will have to pester his uncle to be a playing partner. Just give us an old bicycle playing deck and we will be satisfied.

We have played a lot of Pegs and Jokers this summer and were glad that we had practiced all year by ourselves. We got to visit with our RVing friends, Bill and Bette, and got to show our expertise. Ha-ha. And they showed us another game, Sweep. Now we just need to practice it. I imagine that you will be heading southwest soon. Hope all goes much better for you this year!! You are in our prayers.

I sent our extra Pegs and Jokers board game back with my brother to his Assisted Living Home and he was anxious to teach them. However, we just finished moving him today to an Independent Living Retirement Center . So he will have to polish up and teach it there. He is so happy with this move. Hopefully there will be even more interaction with people with common interests there.

I also have continued scrapbooking, but have not finished the next two books as I had planned. I guess I really need to get busy and do it daily instead of reading novels!! But the visiting with others while working has been good for me also. I will miss this fellowship.

Gary got to go on a fishing trip out on Lake Erie with friends from church. So we had fish the next night cooked over the campfire. Yum! They had a fun trip even though the trip was hours late getting underway because of rough water in the early morning. Pastor John told that his sea sickness patches were hardly enough to settle his stomach. It will be interesting to see if they can get him out on a boat again! Hang in there John!!

We also attended a school reunion for Salem Bible Institute now known as Allegheny Wesleyan Bible College where Gary had attended school for a few junior high and early high school years. It was good to get reacquainted with old friends.

And tonight after spending most of the day going to Mentor to help my brother move, we had the pleasure getting to watch our middle son go through his test for his black belt in Ty-Kwon-Do. We were amazed at all of the energy and skill and memory that goes into that!! More energy than I would want to expend! He has been many years working toward it and has had many delays and distractions with his work and family. But priorities had to take precedence!

Hopefully soon we will be on the road again. We are looking forward to a change in scenery and know that we would soon be facing cold weather here. So keep checking our posting!

Two Months down and One to go in OHIO !

We have kept busy while home and have been able to have good relaxation time also. So relaxed in fact, that we often forget to take our camera with us on outings. Hopefully we will get back in the adventure mode when we hit the road again! We did hear from our early mentors, Bill and Bette, from Canton when they arrived back in the area. So we called them and made plans to visit and catch up on news and play the Pegs & Jokers game which they taught us. On this visit we learned a new game called Sweep. Bottom line, we had a very good dinner and a lovely visit with them. We are hoping to have another visit with them and another couple whom we met at the same time in 2007. This month at Timashamie Campground has included Christmas in July. The kids enjoyed Santa's arrival , even without the snow and reindeer! Not many adults followed through with decorations though. It sounded like too much trouble to me!! But I am looking forward to the Yard Sale in August. Our grandson has spent a lot of time with us as he loves the pool beside our site. He did leave long enough one weekend to go to the First Friends church for practice and pre-qualifying with their model racing cars. He had won a car at a previous race night at Donnell Ford during Super Nationals weekend. He is in his glory doing this and the racing MC, Richard Theiss, appreciated our son's assistance with technicalities. Richard, you might have the family roped into this for the long haul!! Speaking of First Friends Church, we had our Sunday School class out to our motorhome for a picnic and evening of fellowship. One of the couples brought their grand daughter who enjoyed showing off her gymnastic abilities. We all had a great time!! Hope they get to come back again. I have been meeting with friends to scrap book every opportunity that I can. I am making progress though not as fast as I would like. I do now have a five foot table that we made in the motorhome under the window so that I can keep busy there. I think that I can be happy with this and we can live without the dinette. Who needs to eat anyway? Salem also has music nights in Waterworth Memorial Park at the Orashan Memorial Civic Center and we decided to check it out. We got to listen to a couple hours of polka music by the Dick Tady Orchestra . It was very enjoyable and one couple even danced on the lawn while this young gal kept her little lamb dancing all evening! Our grandson left us for a week away at Summer Scout Camp and his father went also as a scout leader. Unfortunately, they had a lot of rain that week . On Thursday which was parents night to visit, we took his mom with us and spent the afternoon and part of the evening with them. It is a beautiful camp with a commissary on a slight rise and a grand dining hall on the hill side. This hall looks out over the lakes where the canoeing and swimming merit badges are worked on. The swimming area was well divided for the beginner, intermediary and swimmers groups. Gary helped stir the dinner pot of beef while the boy scouts praised "Cecil" food . Cecil being their Scout Master! This past Saturday Gary and I went to Mentor, Ohio and picked up my brother to then go to a Family Reunion in Uhrichsville, Ohio. We had a good visit and then took him back to the motorhome with us for a few days. While he was with us he worked on a jigsaw puzzle and we also taught him to play our favorite Pegs & Jokers game . He then went home today to his Assisted Living apartment all fired up to teach them a new game! So as you see we have kept busy enough. And now we will see how much we can get into for August. Gary is to go on a fishing trip tomorrow on Lake Erie for starters!
