HAPPY VALENTINES FROM FLORIDA!! FEBRUARY ALMOST OVER!!

Gary does not usually do Valentines, but this year he did!!  This vase was made by an acquaintance  from the Art Gallery in Arcadia, Florida where Gary volunteers and where he will teach a colored pencil class beginning today.  

All I had on the table in the motorhome was a red plastic table cloth and placemat left over from Christmas.  The table is only there until we return to Ohio for the summer, where it will go on the condo balcony.  So when the park here had their yard sale, I found material to cover the table in place of the red.  I think it is a beautiful piece of pottery!!

After the yard sale five couples went out to eat at Demetrie's Greek Restaurant in Sebring, Florida. We thought they might cancel out on the evening plans as Jan who runs the yard sales here was done in from the heat of the day.  I really thought it was Heat Exhaustion or Heat Stroke from what I read on the Internet. And it took several days for her to get back to normal.  She did not eat enough and probably did not have enough water, but after getting home and consuming more water she would not hear of us not going out for dinner.  One of the couples, Lou and Sandy, were to leave for Louisiana in a few days, so we all wanted to spend one last little bit of time with them!!

We have had several lunch/dinner gatherings here in the park, held outdoors because of the mandates of Florida for the Covid cautions.  One was a Loaded Potato Bake and then this Chili, cornbread lunch. These are all finished off with a desert and served from the patio outside of the clubhouse kitchen.

Another February event in the park was the Mardi Gras parade and refreshments.  We did not participate for this since we do not have a golf cart, but we did sit outside and watch them go by!!

It is now noon and it will be another couple hours before Gary gets back home, but I am ready to sit back and take it easy for a while.  I made potato salad and banana bread this morning and need to do up the dishes yet!!  I wanted to use up the sliced bananas that I had in the freezer to make a little more space as I will combine the stuff from both freezers so I can defrost the one in the shed.  Yesterday I made Waldorf salad, so we should be well set for the rest of the weekend!!  The banana bread will be a treat as we have stopped buying snacks.  Though we're not seeing much change in the scales yet!!

I need to get some cards ready to go in the mail!!  It's so easy to let that kind of thing get delayed.   

Hope you are all doing well and I am sure you are looking forward to spring.  We have had more cold and wind than I remember from last year.  I still have one small flower bed to finish up!!  I just hope that the flowers survive the summer while we are gone.  Gary was going to put in a water line so they could be watered by a timer.  But I think that will wait for next fall.  Take care!!  Love you all!!

TOUR OF HARVEST AVIATION at WAUCHULA, FL

Our New Hope Baptist Church offered a tour time at Harvest Aviation.  I did not know at the time that it was planned because of NHBC's shipment of chairs for a mission group in Belize. The group attending the tour was mostly the mission group of the church and our group of five from the SKP Resort.  It was a good tour after which our five went to lunch at Giovanni's Italian Restaurant in Wauchula.

Good food and great visit with our neighbor, Skip and Bruce and Susan from across our park.

a couple years ago..

Gary has also been volunteering at the Art Galary in Arcadia Florida and will soon begin a class to teach colored pencil drawing.  He sure keeps busy!

This past Sunday the Troy Burns family conducted the music portion of our service.  They were here last year also and presented a great service!! Awesome voices and awesome songs!! 

Not too much going on in our park, except an ice cream social this afternoon and Bingo tonight.  So stay tuned and we will continue to share.
